Wake Audubon Society’s continued sponsorship continues to show their commitment to marginalized and historically excluded researchers who professionally work outdoors, allowing FI to have a further reach when providing support for minorities, as well as resources and programming to organizations and institutions who are committed to providing more inclusive experiences in the natural sciences.
Field Inclusive (FI) is proud to announce our continued sponsorship with Wake Audubon Society (WAS). Located in Wake County, NC, this is WAS’s 2nd year as a corporate sponsor of FI. A chapter of Audubon North Carolina and the National Audubon Society, WAS has a membership of about 1,500 and holds monthly meetings, field trips, bird walks and other activities. Gifting FI with $1,000 for the 2nd year, WAS has provided funds to support FI’s research awards for the 2025 award year.
WAS is made up of a diverse group of people with a variety of interests and specialties; they’re not just birdwatchers. For the past year, WAS has partnered with FI to host our Beginning Birder’s Program, which will enter its second year in 2024. Both groups hold a special place and obligation to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and serving underrepresented groups and communities through our various nature activities.
“Wake Audubon has been a fabulous partner and supporter of FI, ” says Lauren D. Pharr, Field Inclusive co-founder and CFO. “We are excited that they have wanted to continue their support of us, and are continuing to be dedicated to promoting a more inclusive outdoors.”
Special thanks to: Phillip Doerr, Mary Abrams, and Rick LaRose, board members of WAS, for their dedication in making sure this partnership continues.
