Registration is now open for our 3rd annual Field Inclusive Week, sponsored by The Nature Conservancy – NC Chapter, North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, ADVANCEGeo Partnership, 2 individual sponsors: Nagesh Mahanthappa and Sarah and Herb Myers, and two anonymous sponsors. These recognized sponsors have provided sponsorships of $500 or more.

Field Inclusive Week began in 2023 with the purpose of a week celebrating all field biologists and nature enthusiasts. During this week, which has been made up of mostly virtual events, Field Inclusive (FI) hosts educational webinars with our award winners as well as various speakers speaking on topics ranging from field safety, field work with disabilities, mental health in nature, and more. For 2025, FI plans to host a mix of webinars, panels, and our new addition this year: workshops. For workshops, FI will be hosting our social field safety workshop, and a workshop on accessibility led by experts. Workshops are limited to 50 persons. We will continue to host panels and webinars featuring our FI awardees talking about their experiences, supporting LGBTQ+ individuals, learning more about graduate school opportunities, and then ending the week with a conversation about Audubon with MacArthur Fellow, author, and activist J. Drew Lanham.

This year we have also continued to incorporate an in-person event: a nature walk which will be held at The Land at Hawkins Loop in Hurdle Mills, NC. This will be a half day full of events, including sunrise yoga, kids activities, food trucks, and nature walks. There is a $5 registration fee to hold your spot.

Daily giveaways during the week will also continue, featuring products and services from Powdermill Nature Reserve, Golden Gate Bird Alliance, Lowcountry Marine Mammal Network, and Sphyrnas. To qualify, we will ask participants to register for and fully attend our webinars, panels, and workshops. Names will be entered into the giveaway during the events and will be announced at the end.

Be sure to also check out our exclusive FI Week 2025 T-shirt, featuring artwork by the amazing Casey Girard which sports our “United by Nature” theme this year.
